Games for Change

Games for Change aims to do what it says on the tin: its makers want to bring about genuine social change through the medium of video games.

Games for Change aims to do what it says on the tin: its makers want to bring about genuine social change through the medium of video games. A selection social impact games are listed on the website, and are given ratings and reviews. There are also blogs, book recommendations, videos and programming tools. On Games for Change locally-based virtual groups can form and work together. The annual festival gives awards for the best games and brings together passionate programmers with philanthropists and experts in the social sector. Games for Change has worked in partnership with the World Bank and USAID among others, and together with an array of foundations (including the Ford, Gates and Goldman Sachs Foundations as well as the UN) has developed a Facebook game, “Half the Sky”, about violence against women. Games for Change has become an important driver and central point of reference in the Good Gaming trend.
