Indiegogo is an open donation platform with a very simple registration process. You don’t have to pay a cent until the fundraising campaign has come to an end: if the fundraising target has been reached, Indiegogo receives 4%. If the sum of donations is below the original goal, the project has to pay 9%. Alternatively, those collecting the donations can also choose to pay a fixed rate of 4%, in which case the donors are refunded their donations if the original goal isn’t reached. Projects outside the USA also have to pay transfer fees of 25 dollars.

Indiegogo’s "Customer Happiness Team" offers tips on presenting projects online. Another service offered by the website is the “Gogo Factor”: an algorithm that tracks the activity of donor campaigns on Twitter, Facebook etc. When projects draw a lot of attention in social media, Indiegogo gives them a further boost by giving them a shout out on their homepage or on the platform’s Facebook page.
