Since 2013, users of Grameenphone, the largest mobile provider in Bangladesh, have been able to take out life insurance policies. The level of the coverage offered is determined by the monthly telephone credit that is used. The minimum payment is 250BDT (around 2 euros/month), and the maximum insurance payout is 50,000 BDT (approx. 580 euro).In Bangladesh, only one per cent of the population is insured, and this group belongs to the upper class. Through Nirvoy, the aim is for the majority of people to gain access to insurance coverage. In the future, the plan is to offer other products in the fields of health, agriculture and education.
