Starting in 2009 and running once a year on Facebook, Chase Community Giving calls for people to nominate their favourite American nonprofit organisation. Every year American Bank and JP Morgan & Chase provide a total of 5 million dollars for the competition. In 2011 each voter was given 10 votes in the first round. The 100 NGOs with the most votes (around 27,000) received 25,000 US-dollars and progressed to the next round. A committee of experts then put the final ideas under the microscope and picked the winner who received 500,000 dollars. Since 2009, Chase Community Giving has given more than 15 million US-dollars to over 400 NGOs. In 2012 the last campaign was launched, today the facebook app is inaccessible.
