Krautbuster is a piece of software from the campaigning outfit Campact. It’s open source and tailored to the needs of NGOs. With Krautbuster you can build a website, create supporter profiles, send out newsletters, and set up a strategic user-flow. A good user-flow, or user-journey, means observing and reacting to the click behaviour of visitors to the site to ensure that they receive as much information as possible. If, for example, they click on a five-minute information video, at the end they are offered links to a petition and further information resources. Further functions of the software include particularly strong data encryption, extensive analysis of effectiveness, and incorporation of external applications. Campact has been using and developing Krautbuster since 2012 and in January 2013 it began the pilot phase with other NGOs. Sadly, since 2014 Krautbuster seems to be inactive. The open source code however is still available on GitHub.
