It's round, blue and unbreakable: the US American inventor Tim Jahnigen invented the One World Futbol as “one for all”. He was inspired for the idea while watching children play in the UN refugee camp of Darfur. The support of Sting, who once wrote a song entitled One World, added the necessary celeb factor. The football has been for sale on oneworldfutbol.com since mid-2010 for the price of 39,90 US dollars. For every ball sold, a second one is donated to an NGO that works with children in refugee camps, war zones or other focal points. The project has set itself the goal to donate 1 million blue balls in the coming years. The community area of the website shows what the “power of play” can achieve through maps, photos and videos and links to Twitter and Facebook. It’s unclear, however, how many balls have been donated to date.
