Samasource doesn’t give poor people charity, it gives them work. Since 2008, the platform mediates jobs that can be performed on a computer to disadvantaged people. After a client, e.g. a company, has uploaded a project, the Samasource team breaks it down into individual tasks that are then distributed to workers around the world. The work, be it research, data entriy or application testing, etc, undergoes a quality check and is then returned to the client. It’s a worthwhile idea that strives to live up to its name: Sama means “equality” in Sanskrit.
