When there are floods, earthquakes or droughts, it’s of vital importance to guarantee aid rapidly and not weighed down by bureaucracy. With YouAlarm, Save the Children Germany has developed an app which recruits Facebook users to spread news, awareness and the impulse to donate widely and quickly.
In installing YouAlarm to their Facebook account, people give Save the Children permission to use their profile to issue status updates, which of course are then visible to all their friends. In this way, the project hopes to reach as many people as possible in the shortest possible time when disaster strikes to activate a big support and donor base.
